Maryland Therapeutic Riding (MTR) offers high-quality horseback riding programs which open new pathways of healing for children and adults with a wide range of physical, mental, and emotional challenges. Conditions served include: cerebral palsy, spina bifida, neuromuscular disorders, post-traumatic brain injury, autism, ADHD, and cognitive disorders. Riders see an overall improvement in their quality of life. They experience improved self-confidence, strength, balance, coordination, attention span, and language and social skills.

Utilizing certified instructors, licensed therapists, volunteers and specially-trained horses, MTR's year-round programs include both traditional Therapeutic Riding as well as Hippotherapy and specialty programs. In Therapeutic Riding, instructors use the horse as an tool to teach riding skills and reach individualized goals and objectives. Hippotherapy is a highly structured, one-on-one therapy session under the guidance of an occupational, physical or speech therapist. Horses for Heroes is a specialty therapeutic riding program for veteran and active duty U.S. military wounded warriors and injured community-service personnel and their family members. Horses for Hope is a specialty therapeutic riding program for women in need of emotional assistance. Recreational riding is also offered as well as instructor training. MTR is a Premier Operating Center accredited by the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH). MTR is a registered 501(c)3 public non-profit organization which was founded in 1996. It is located between Baltimore and Annapolis, Maryland on a beautiful 25-acre farm.
